National Age Group Championships

Alex Hooper was in Sheffield to compete in seven events in this years National BAGCATs. She had two events on her first day; the first being the 400 FC where she finished in 25th place in a (converted) time of 4:47.14 which was a PB. Second event was the 100 Fly where another PB time of 1:08.55 in the heats was good enough for 6th place and a place in the final. Alex swim a little slower in the final later in the evening to finish in 10th place in a time of 1:10.50. The second day saw Alex compete in three events. The first was the 100 FC where she swam another PB of 1:02.31 in the heats to finish 10th and book a place in the final. Again in the final she couldn't match her heat time and finished in 10th place in a time of 1:03.93. Next event was the 200 IM and Alex finished in 34th place with a time of 2:41.32. Final event on day two was the 200 BK, where Alex's time of 2:36.38 was good enough for 19th place. Alex swam two events on the Saturday, the 100 BK and the 200 FC. In the 100 BK she came home in 19th place with a time of 1:14.34 and in the 200 FC she managed 32nd place in a time of 2:20.64. The final day of the competition saw Alex swim her final event, the 800 FC where she recorded her 4th PB of the weekend to finish 25th in a time of 9:48.97. In the overall BAGCAT standings Alex was 20th out of 115 12 year old girls with a total of 2609 point - very well done Alex!
